NERVOUS SYSTEM TRAINING.
REWIRE YOUR BRAIN. REWRITE YOUR STORY.

If you’re here, you are seeking something.

You want to be a better person, partner or parent. You want success in your career, but also balance. You’re a boss or business owner trying to manage burnout. Maybe you’re stuck on a big project. You’ve got writer’s block, or performance anxiety. Maybe you’re a first-responder who’s used to living life-or-death but can’t turn it off when your shift ends.

Maybe you want to stay sober this time. Or somehow shift your understanding and experience of your mental health diagnosis. Some of you are learning to live with chronic illness, inside a compromised body. Others are searching for special skills to maximize performance.

The cornerstone of the Whole Human design is breathtaking change.

How we discuss and design curated sessions depends on your unique interests and needs.

The best plan is the one you’ll actually do.

WHY TRY BREATHWORK?

Breathwork is nervous system training.

We are interacting with your FIGHT, FLIGHT or FREEZE response. The goal is to fine tune how you react when stressed. The result is a physical and emotional workout with a profound payoff that goes beyond the logical mind’s understanding of who you are and what you are capable of.

Breathwork is breathing with purpose. The structured rhythms Amanda teaches encourage an intense response from the nervous system. The goal is to decrease activity in the brain’s Default Mode Network (DMN) – responsible for rumination, habitual thinking and the separation of self – while stimulating the areas of the brain responsible for sensory processing, creativity, memory, emotion, wonder and awe.

The Whole Human model is designed to maximize neural connectivity and neuroplasticity. This literally changes the way you think, feel and understand.

GO BEYOND COPING SKILLS

LIVE A FULLY ENGAGED, AUTHENTIC LIFE

“ I have a neurological disorder and a movement disorder. There's no drug I can take. I just have to do work. I have to have (what looks like) seizures, I have to have involuntary movements. I have to struggle to talk when it's hard.

Sessions with Amanda take me on a journey. Sometimes it looks and feels more out of control in my body, then I sink into a deeper level of connection through the senses–the smell (of the essential oils), the sound of the music, Amanda’s voice, the feeling of the vibration. My pain and my symptoms shift. It’s still hard, but it’s also very beautiful. There is still pain, but also, freedom.””

–Jennifer Reed, living with FND and FMD diagnoses

“Amanda understands that while therapy helps people make sense of their experiences through insight and language, breathwork works directly with the nervous system and body. As a complement to counseling, this style of breathwork can support emotional processing, embodiment, and self-awareness, especially for experiences that are difficult to access through talking alone.”

I have 20+ years of experience, working with thousands of clients, but why am I so passionate about this work?

My entire adult life has been devoted to figuring out how to stay, not just alive, but living a life I could be proud of.

I got my degree from one of the most prestigious schools in Canada, and then I moved to the US, where no one has even heard of it. I thought I was going to be a physical therapist. Then, while I was finishing the last few credits for my degree, my mother took her own life. A year after that, my uncle did the same. A month later, my cousin followed.

For a while, I was lost.

I broke my neck in a diving accident. I went to treatment for an eating disorder. My dog died. I was diagnosed with breast cancer. And ADD. And depression. And anxiety. I was bipolar for a hot minute. I got divorced. I had CPTSD.

I spent five years at the literary nonprofit PEN America, managing the Emerging Voices Fellowship and working on my own stories. I taught writing workshops while I was also teaching Nike Training Club, Power Plate and TRX to clients from Toronto to Los Angeles.

I cried a lot. I was terrified that my brain was broken, and that I would never be happy.

I decided to get sober.

And then I went to my first breathwork class.

It changed the trajectory of my life.

This is the kind of profound change that I want for you.

“Working in the ICU, I’m used to pushing everything down just to get through the shift. Doing breathwork with Amanda didn’t take the job stress away, but it shifted how my body holds it—and that’s been life-changing.”– Laura V., ICU nurse

“Amanda’s energy, commitment and passion for this work was evident throughout the entire process. She understands the importance of intention and integration. Her ability to hold space for healing and growth was beautiful. I truly cannot wait for our next experience.” – Joe Schock, Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor (CCDC)

“Amazing breathwork experiences with Amanda Fletcher. The first time, I was able to release a lot of fear and anger. The second time was in remission where it was a release of relief and gratefulness. This time it was to envision my tumors being blown out of my body. I felt my whole body vibrating through the hands and feet as if they were magnetized. My next goal is to actually transcend out of my body.” – Kelli Buhr, terminal cancer patient

Group classes: serving clients with common goals, in a communal setting

“My patients have been "blown away" after working with Amanda, many of them unaware of what the breathwork would feel like, or what affects it may have. Several patients said they were pain free for the first time in years during the session, others said they saw and felt things that were new and thought provoking.” – Mary Trumpi, DC, CCSP, Santa Monica Sports Medicine

“I've done a lot of yoga and some meditating in the last couple decades, but this session you led us through was a game-changer. I've downloaded the audio and trimmed it to the guided meditation part and it's now in my voice memos. It felt like a reset, like a spiritual decluttering of all the sources of stress and anxiety that have been accumulating in the last few months.” – Lupe Fisch, Craft School writing program participant

Collaborations: add breathwork to your existing workshop or retreat offering to ensure a lasting, emotional imprint on your clientele

“I hired Amanda to come and facilitate breathwork for a retreat that I was doing at the Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach. What she did was so mind-blowing, and so thoughtful that every single woman in attendance had her socks blown off. Amanda came prepared and super curious about the unique needs of my clients, and the program that she created seamlessly integrated with our goals and objectives. I cannot wait to have her come to my next event.”– Rosanne Austin, creator of the Fearlessly Fertile Method, bestselling author, documentary filmmaker

"For years Amanda has offered breathwork and journaling workshops making them essential pillars of our retreat, providing accessible practical tools for emotional regulation and self discovery. As a cancer survivor herself, Amanda's ability to connect with our young adult participants is truly transformative. She has created a uniquely safe space where participants feel less isolated, are able to express deep feelings openly, and leave feeling grounded, centered, and empowered. Her impact on their mental wellness journey is invaluable, and her sessions consistently receive the highest praise from attendees."– Aura Kuperberg, LCSW, PhD, Project Administrator, Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Program at USC

General group classes: Affordable online alternative to curated sessions

In these sessions, I intuitively choose writing prompts, playlists and movement based on topics that have recently surfaced in my work. Great for people looking to supplement their wellness routines and those with a treatment plan in place needing ongoing support, including past clients.

  • No check-in required

  • No need to turn on mics or cameras

  • Freedom to get loud, be weird and let go

  • The safety inherent in being home

“I started breathwork when I was in treatment and it’s been hella rewarding. Amanda has the best energy for this and the group sessions are so good! I look forward to joining the Whole Human Workshops whenever my schedule allows.” – S.M.

Listen: Breathwork is a powerful practice. We never know what’s going to come up. If you’re coming to a general class, please make sure you have someone to talk to about the outcome, if and when you need it. If you are pregnant, prone to seizures, or navigating serious mental health diagnoses, make sure you talk to your doctor or therapist before signing up.
